Isn’t it uncanny the way the universe conspires, steps in and gives you that gentle little push to say ‘ trust me, you’re where you should be …keep going!!?

At the beginning of this year, I had decided that the blog would be taking a backseat for a bit while I threw myself into practically a full time university  course load while working full time (call me crazy). And then this happened……

A couple of months ago, an email arrived in my inbox to let me know that some lovely reader had enjoyed my blog enough to nominate me for this year’s competition. This small recognition was more than enough for me and to be honest, I didnt really give the competition serious thought as I never thought in a million years I’d be in the top 30. A few days later, I received another email telling me that I was finalist – it was a serious WTF?!!! moment. Keeping the secret was another feat in itself! I am truly humbled stand alongside 99 other talented and creative bloggers and wish everyone the best of luck in what is going to be fabulous year in the bloggersphere.

Heading in the masterclass at The School in Rosebery two weeks ago, I was a little nervous but a few minutes later, I was back in familiar territory with my fellow bloggers and I was again reminded why I love and continue to blog. It’s a truly lovely community full of supportive, creative, talented and like-minded people who put their hearts and souls out into the ether every day and I’m so proud to be part of it.

Over the course of the day and following on to a fabulous cocktail party later that night I got reacquainted with some great ladies I’d met over the past couple years including Beth of Baby Mac, Christina over at Hair Romance , Mrs Woog of Woogs World , and fellow Melbourne food blogger Lady Homemade whom I’d met at Eat Drink Blog 2013 in Perth. I also got to meet some other Melbourne foodies including the gorgeous Brodie of the Hungry Babushka (check out pic above) and had my fan-girl moment with Ruth of  The Gourmet Girlfriend who is going to teach me how NOT to butcher a chicken as well how I can make 8 dishes out of said chicken next week at her Steps Cooking Class in Melbourne. Can’t wait!

The other great thing about the weekend was meeting a diverse range of bloggers from all sorts of niches and backgrounds. I met the vivacious sisters Bron of Maxabella Loves who lead a great session on “Finessing Facebook’ and Allison Tait, Cybil and Gordon the great team behind  Blah Blah Magazine, Shell of Kitty and Buck and the fabulous Astred Hicks of Design Cherry. Do yourself a favour and check out their awesome blogs covering everything from parenting, sustainable living, style, fashion and freelance writing.

And speaking of celebration cocktails, it would be remiss of me not the mention the one (or four) consumed with friends prior to the launch. This, readers is the famous Pornstar Martini made with fresh passionfruit and served with a shot of champagne by the skilled mixologists at Honey Rider bar on Millitary Road in Neutral Bay. They also make a pretty mean pizza as well so if youre in the area, I urge you to get acquainted as soon as possible.

And after a celebratory few the next best thing is a soy flat white and BLT roll at the Bread and Butter Cafe conveniently located downstairs…sorted! xo

Congratulations lovely! Woo hoo! I hadn’t heard of kidspot prior to another blogging friend (Matt from Inspired Food) being nominated. It’s definitely a great honour to be noticed and nominated by readers and/or blogging peers. A blog definitely takes a large amount of time and effort to maintain but you’re entirely right… the community is so supportive, generous and beautiful. Glad that you got your motivation and energy back, despite unit commitments. Congrats again! xx
